FAQs

What makes Code 8 different from other training gyms?

Unlike general fitness programs, Code 8 uses advanced technology—force plates, 3D motion capture, and velocity-based tools—to assess how your child moves. That data is used to build personalized training plans for faster gains, safer workouts, and better long-term development.

What is a force plate, and why does my athlete need one?

A force plate is a high-tech tool that measures how much force your child produces—and how they produce it—during movements like jumping, landing, and changing direction. It tells us whether they’re favoring one side, if they’re absorbing force safely, or if there’s a risk for injury.

Why it matters: We can detect issues that the eye can’t see and build a safer, more effective training plan—especially important during growth spurts or post-injury.

What does 3D motion capture do?

3D motion capture tracks your athlete’s movement in three dimensions, allowing us to see exactly how each joint is moving during sport-specific actions like sprinting, cutting, or squatting. It gives us a full picture of how their body moves in real time.

Why it matters: It helps us correct inefficient or risky movement patterns and improve performance with more targeted coaching.

Can’t a good coach just watch and see what’s wrong?

Observation is helpful, but it has limits. These tools give us quantifiable data, so we’re not guessing. They reveal what’s happening inside the movement—force production, timing, balance, joint mechanics—which leads to smarter, more personalized decisions.

How often are force plates and 3D motion capture used?

We use them during the initial evaluation and periodically throughout training to track progress and make adjustments. If your child is returning from an injury, these tools help us know exactly when it’s safe to increase intensity.

Is this training safe for younger athletes?

Yes. Every program is tailored to the athlete’s age, growth stage, and physical maturity. We emphasize proper mechanics, movement quality, and long-term development over short-term results.

Do you only work with elite or pro-level athletes?

No. We train athletes of all levels—youth, high school, college, and professional. If your athlete is motivated to improve, we meet them where they are and help them get where they want to go.

What sports do you train?

We work with athletes across football, volleyball, baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, track & field, wrestling, and more. Our training supports the physical demands of any sport.

Will my child be in a group or trained one-on-one?

Each athlete has their own custom plan, even in small group sessions. This ensures personal attention without losing the energy and focus of a performance-based environment.

How do you track progress?

We use real-time data from our technology to monitor performance: power output, movement symmetry, and biomechanical efficiency. Progress is measurable and visible—for athletes and parents alike.

Can my child train here if they’re coming off an injury?

Yes. We specialize in return-to-play training, especially after ACL, hamstring, or lower extremity injuries. We identify and correct lingering movement issues while building back confidence and strength.

Do you work with physical therapists or sport coaches?

We do. We believe in a team-based approach. When needed, we collaborate with coaches, PTs, and families to make sure your athlete’s development is aligned across the board.

How do we get started?

Every athlete begins with a 1-on-1 performance evaluation. From there, we create a customized plan and training schedule that fits your athlete’s goals and availability.

Where are you located?

We are based at Aligned Coaching in Pismo Beach, CA, and serve athletes throughout the Five Cities and San Luis Obispo County.
